Abstract
This paper is about application of decision support systems in the process of managerial decision making and deals with two issues: process of managerial decision-making and decision support systems.
The process of managerial decision making is based on opportunities or threats and the process itself takes place in several stages, in order to make an appropriate decision that further would result in improving the overall performance of the company. The decision-making process as an integral part of each managerial function takes place at all levels of management and all of the levels have the need of information on which decision will be based.
Decision support systems can be designed to facilitate the research of knowledge, to synthesize the methods for obtaining solutions, providing different perspectives for the problems, as well as stimulating the creative abilities with the aim supporting decision-making of semi-structured and unstructured decisions.
The integration of decision support systems in the process of managerial decision-making has the aim to increase the efficiency and to decrease the possibility of human error in the process of decision-making.
In this paper the application of decision support systems in the process of managerial decision-making in the Macedonian companies is introduced in order to explore the needs and the conditions for implementing these systems in the companies, as well as how much new trends of including information systems and technologies are accepted for carrying out business activities.
The aim of this paper is through appropriate theoretical and practical research to demonstrate how the application of decision support systems could help the companies to gain competitive advantage, to increase the organizational productivity and to improve the process of managerial decision-making.
