Abstract
The international legal framework for foreign investment regulation consists of an extensive network of International Investment Agreements (IIAs), which can be Bilateral Investment Treaties (BIT) (agreements between two countries that contain reciprocal rights and obligations) and Multilateral Investment Treaties - MIT, which are following the general rules of international law. International Investment Agreements are the primary international legal instruments that provide for the promotion and protection of foreign investments. The uniqueness of the network of International Investment Agreements is a product of historical evolution, from the Middle Ages to the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
The main subject of this paper will be an analysis of the dispute resolution settlement according to the Bilateral Investment Treaties. The emphasis will be put on arbitration clauses contained in Bilateral Investment Treaties.
KEYWORDS: bilateral agreements, investments, arbitration.
