Abstract
The term borderline is a very broad term. There is almost no area or region withoutborderlines. This article is an attempt to clearly define the term borderline as one of theelements of a state border as well as to describe the elements and principles used for thatdefinition, which is of great importance particularly from a military and geographicalperspective. The simple terms borderlines and state borders can often create serious mis-understandings, because they are interpreted in different ways by different parties.1
