Abstract

Social work is considered humane and a noble profession based on humanistic ideals and human rights. Social workers, as professionals, advocate for social justice and offer social support and resources to vulnerable categories or oppressed groups. The focus of their work is discrimination, education, poverty, unemployment, and so on. Their goal in this profession is to promote equality of opportunity to access basic services, resources and information, but also a healthy engagement with customers. Respect for human rights is an important issue in any profession, but in this profession it should be plus emphasized and should be extremely important. Human dignity is an internationally guaranteed category and is part of all human rights acts. Dignity is a person's right to be valued and respected as such, and to be ethically treated. The success and professionalism of the social worker is assessed on the basis of the degree of respect for the person’s rights and its dignity. This paper refers to social work as a profession, the role of the social worker and on the other hand the code of ethics of social work, where respecting the person's dignity occupies an important place.
