Abstract
The profession of social pedagogue occupies an important place in society and its functioning. That is why the topic of this paper refers to the necessary competencies of the social pedagogue for successful management and correct response to the challenges that this profession brings with it. The main mediator between the interests of the young man and the demands of society is precisely the social pedagogue. Given his wealth of life experience and professional knowledge, the social pedagogue tackles the young man's life difficulties, helping him to build his own lifestyle that will allow him to fully develop his potential. The range of areas in which the social pedagogue can work is wide. He can be active in education, health, social protection, non-governmental sector, science, etc. In order to be successful in achieving those goals, the social pedagogue, as a professional and expert in his field, it is necessary to have the appropriate knowledge, skills, abilities, to have human, but also professional ethical and moral values, in other words, to be competent in his profession and to be able to respond to all the challenges of the new time in this profession. Specifically, in this paper we will focus on the two very important competencies for the profession of social pedagogue: Competencies, based on specific theories and knowledge and Ethical and professional values.
