Abstract

Globalization, economic turbulences and ICT have introduced structural, strategic, process and people-centered changes in the organizations. Thus, among all types of changes, process changes have a central value and key importance in an organization and they are considered as the most difficult type of changes. Over the past few decades, we are witnesses of changing platforms at both sectors: private and public. Client-based orientation in business sector and citizen-oriented directions in public sector become new platforms that emphasize a holistic focus. The most essential guiding motives in these processes are better effectiveness and efficiency. To achieve these purposes, the organizations employ wide areas of methodologies and tools for changing the business processes. Reengineering is often used as one of the manner that leads to achieving better efficiency and effectiveness. Identifying and mapping the processes, deciding which process needs to be reengineered and in what order, are very important issues. There are different methods used in the business reengineering implementation. Some researchers used social network analysis and network properties as a tool for process reengineering. In this paper, we survey the already done studies that use social network analysis in business process reengineering and suggest social network analysis as a suitable tool for business process modeling.
