Abstract

This paper was created within the scientific-research project “Functional
analysis of the Ombudsman in the Republic of North Macedonia” and is a part of
the monograph dedicated to this issue. The structure of this research monograph
is analogous to the basic objectives of the research: historical development of the
institution of the Ombudsman, legal framework of the institution of the Ombudsman
in the the European Union, the Ombudsman in the law of the Republic of North
Macedonia, empirical analysis of the functionality of the Ombudsman in the Republic
of North Macedonia and conclusions and recommendations. In the third part, which
is discussed below, the legal basis, the organizational structure, the conditions for the
election and termination of the position of ombudsman, and the competences of this
institution had been analysed.
