Abstract
In the Republic of North Macedonia, the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) has emerged as a pivotal institution in curbing corruption and promoting integrity. This article explores the role and place of the SCPC in the Macedonian political system. It examines the SCPC’s functions, powers, and competencies, highlighting its efforts to combat corruption and hold public officials accountable. The research concludes that the success of the fight against corruption in North Macedonia depends on the collaboration between SCPC, the courts, the police, the public prosecutor’s office, citizens, and international stakeholders. Therefore, the key feature of the SCPC in the Macedonian political system is its zeal to enforce its powers rather than the severity of the punishments it imposes directly.
