Abstract
This doctoral dissertation analyzes the phenomenological and etiological aspects of violence among children in schools in order to determine certain characteristics concerning the manifestation of this phenomenon, to determine dominant factors for its occurrence and the consequences that occur for children. This dissertation stresses special attention on prevention like ultimate goal of every criminological and victimological study, through analysis of preventive policies and programs and models that they are based on. Especially programs about early intervention and those who are based on restorative approach in response to the violence, which show positive results in terms of building a positive children behavior, positive school climate and, safe environment for conducting the process of upbringing and education of children are considered.
This dissertation based on the gained theoretical knowledge about violence among children in schools, is trying to verify and supplement the knowledge with empirical research that focuses on three important aspects, phenomenology, etiology and prevention. Based on the research findings, the dissertation gives conclusions and applicable suggestions or guidelines for entities or different systems that have a certain role in reducing violence among children in our society.
