Abstract

The Republic of Macedonia implements the recommendations of the international legal acts on the harmonization of substantial and procedural criminal legislation with the EU legislation, what is an important prerequisite for the suppression of transnational economic - financial crime. Macedonian law enforcement agencies that are directly authorized for suppression of economic and financial crime, in their work use contemporary methods, measures and activities, combined with the traditional methods, measures and actions in the area of criminal investigation, and at the same time the concepts of financial investigation are set as parallel procedure. Of particular importance is the conduct of the criminal and financial investigation in order to enable securing and confiscation of proceeds of crime from their perpetrators, in the country and abroad. Since the crime has no boundaries, offenders associate in their criminal activity, so the fight against crime should be strengthened by international cooperation through international assistance and cooperation and exchange of information, and through building of a strategy for the establishment of joint investigation teams in order to successfully find and prosecute criminals and provide evidences in the territory of two or more countries.
The application of modern and traditional methods is an important prerequisite for the detection, clarification, proof and prevention of transnational criminal cases, especially in the area of organized economic - financial crime. The recommendations of the international legal acts and their implementation in the Macedonian criminal legislation are analyzed in this dissertation. Also a research was made on the cooperation of the law enforcement agencies in the Republic of Macedonia with the law enforcement agencies from other countries and survey was conducted on the opinion of the professionals on the application of the modern methods as well as a survey on the citizens' perception about this type of crime and the performance of the Macedonian institutions
