Abstract
In general, information technology and tourism are the two most dynamic drivers in the global economy. In recent decades, the use of information systems that also incorporate a number of geographical data for certain locations, ie GIS, is of great importance for the
development of tourism.
GIS is a computer based powerful set of tools for collecting, storing, retrieving, mapping, analyzing, transforming and displaying spatial and non spatial data from geographic world for a particular set of purposes that varies for each discipline.Their capacity to store, retrieve, analyse, model and map large areas with huge volumes of spatial data has led to an extraordinary
proliferation of applications. GIS has been adopted as a useful tool by a wide range of activities such as environmental planning, property management, infrastructure setting, emergence planning, automobile navigation systems, urban studies, market analyses, and business
demographics GIS can be used in tourism as a decision supporting tool for tourism planning, for investigating
condition of the area, trends and changes, impact assessment, patterns associated with resource use, visitor flow management, tourism destination selection, map creation, routing to and through the tourism destination. It can also be used to determine the best site for a newly built tourist destination. Therefore, the potential for GIS applications in tourism is significant.
This paper examines the attitudes of tourists about the availability of quantity and quality of Internet information that are of particular importance for the creation of tourist routes in Kosovo.
