As for many issues in the social sciences, the practical success of
different models of policing and policing strategies also has more
interpretations of how appropriate they are to respond to citizens' demands for
greater security. In the text, through a review of the literature, an attempt is
made to determine the basic characteristics of the traditional and proactive
models of policing in order to reveal the advantages and weaknesses of these
models. These models do not contradict each other, therefore a traditional
model of policing with constant modernization will continue to be a part of
police work, but proactive police work opens new opportunities for greater
efficiency of police work.
