Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to show that learning, knowing and using of foreign languages is one of the most important criteria for the progress of tourism industry.
We will show results from some of the research made in Europe and countries that have been looking into the qualifications needed for tourism industry. From the results one can see the position that foreign languages take in the rank of importance for tourism and the professional tourism education.
