Abstract
The necessity of foreign language knowledge in tourism comes not only from the direct contact to the visitor. At the tourism market, where you have to be competitive, foreign language knowledge is a sale psychological instrument and the prerequisite for successful businesses. This paper presents the necessity of foreign language knowledge in the global competition and shows that knowing only English as lingua franca is not sufficient. More employees in tourism enterprises have to master the specific foreign languages of their business communication.
