Abstract
Abstract
Multiple sclerosis is one of the most common causes of disability in young people.
Multiple sclerosis is a progressive demyelinating and neurodegenerative disease
of the central nervous system, which gradually results in serious neurological deficits.
Multiple sclerosis usually appears in early adult life and has a particular impact on
family, as well as professional and social life.
Objectives
The aim is to assess fatigue with physical functioning in different types of multiples
sclerosis, as well as the relationship of the type of multiple sclerosis with fatigue and impact on work, family and social life.
Materials and methods
This study included 780 people with various types of multiple sclerosis internationally. For
data analysis, a specialized fatigue assessment scale was taken – Assessment Scale
of fatigue (Fatigue severity scale).
Results
The data from the study indicates a serious handicap when it comes to fatigue, the type of
multiple sclerosis and fatigue-related impairments in daily functioning. It is considered that they are disability will be greater if fatigue is at a higher level in these respondents.
Conclusion and discussion
Fatigue is largely related to gender, affects daily physical functioning and reduces social interaction in people with multiple sclerosis. Therefore, it is necessary to give a strong emphasis on fatigue as a potential major problem for people with multiple sclerosis, because during the research, most of the respondents answered that fatigue is one of the three
worst symptoms, and which is not treated with great severity.
