Abstract
Abstrakt
The passing of the Armenian Genocide Resolution passed by the Foreign Policy Committee of the US House of Representatives in 2011 strained relations and caused a momentary crisis in the good US-Turkey relations. The resolution does not have any major practical significance because it is non-binding and the question is whether it will be put on the agenda of the House of Representatives. This resolution, which is being voted for the third time by this committee, was passed by a narrow majority of 23:22 votes and refers to the mass killing of Christian Armenians (about 1.5 million) by the Muslim Turks during the period of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in 1915. - 1916 year. In my opinion and conviction, it is the intention of the United States to sober up the Turks from the euphoria with their new foreign policy, which many political scientists called neo-Ottomanism or neo-Ottomanism. Namely, this new foreign policy of Turkey was announced in May 2009 by its creator and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Ahmet Davitoglu. Neo-Ottomanism is based on a complex macro-ideological platform according to which today's Turkey, as a legitimate civilizational heir, should reaffirm the entire spiritual, cultural and political heritage of the Ottoman Empire.
