Abstract
The phenomenon of professional stress among teachers is an integral part of everyday
work and it is constantly growing, especially in the last period when, despite all the problems, we
are additionally facing the Covid-19 pandemic. Confirmation of this widespread phenomenon
can be found in the initially consulted literature where the teaching profession is pointed out to
be one of the five most stressful professions. The work of teachers in high schools, besides the
educational role, takes great responsibility, expertise, regular monitoring of all changes,
numerous administrative tasks, controls, contacts, and in certain periods it all can be at the same
time.
Although teachers are professionals, they are primarily human beings, and in order to be able to
conduct teaching with success, they should be pointed out to the most appropriate methods for
reducing professional stress, not only at the individual level, but also at the level of the schools.
Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to determine which are the most dominant sources of
stress, as well as which methods to reduce professional stress are most appropriate to use
teachers in the four high schools in the municipality of Ohrid. All of this will contribute to
reducing professional stress, increasing teacher satisfaction, improving work and more successful
implementation of teaching in high schools.
