Abstract

One of the goals in the action-oriented course Methodology of teaching German as a foreign language at the South East European University, Tetovo, North Macedonia, is to qualify for tertiary language teaching - German after English. As a direct application option, students carry out lesson simulations, where tertiary language tasks are very rarely used. In the reflection phase, students repeatedly expressed their own foreign language learning experience from school, where mixing of the languages is still regarded as a source of error. The study which examined the influence of experiences on the theory-practice difference is presented in this article. In one class the students worked on German language learning tasks in their language level according to the principles of tertiary language didactics and reflected the process. The control group did not work on these tasks. The results show that biographical experience-based knowledge overlay didactic-methodological knowledge and influence professional behavior.
