Although communication practices, processes and experiences are central aspects of tourism
studies, as a relatively unexplored area of study, it is only very recently that experts of
linguistics have turned their attention to the language of tourism. The paper is meant as a
creative journey of research methodologies about tourism discourse. An insight is given to the
verbal, visual and written communicative strategies that implement concepts, models and
theoretical paradigms of discourse analysis, genre analysis, reflective ethnography, content
analysis, social semiotics, linguistics. By including representation of local tourism products
(brochures guide-books, TV reports, websites,) a further research is to be continued – a
creative journey that will contribute towards future interdisciplinary research.
