Abstract

The basic principle of EM technology is to apply and increase the population of eft'ective and uset'ul soil microorganisms
which will displace degenerative microorganisms, especially soil pathogens.
There are data on the use of probiotics not only in soil improvement but also in prevention of disease attacks. With
regard to this, our objectives $'ere to study the impact of probiotics on soil rnicroffora and, more speciflcally, to
detennine the nurnber of each group of n.ricroorganisms and their influence on certain processes in the soil, evsn
in the control of ceftain pathogens. to estimate the efl'ect of applicaticxi of one probiotic or their combination, as
rvell as the best model of application - lvhen usual cultural practices are applied in order to produce healrhy and
good quality tobacco seedlings.
Investigations included two probiotics - EmFarma Plus and Ema 5 (plobiotic with em1ched fbrmula and with rather
fungicidal effect), and their cornbinations, as well as the modes of application.
It can be concluded frorn investigations that probiotics have a positive effect on the nunrber ofcertain groups of
microorganisnr s.
The best results in increasing the number of actinomycetes were obtained u'ith EmFarma Plus * Ema 5 (rvith and
rvithout herbicide application). The srnall number of bacteria is compensated by increased number of actinornycetes.
A balanced ratio ofbacteria and firngi rvas recorded, too. The application ofErna 5 also conf, nned its efl'ects.
It may be concluded that probiotics with their effect on increasing some groups of microorganisrns can prevent the
attack of soil pathogens.
