The introductory science in each independent and self-governing scientific field or discipline aims to provide the students with elementary knowledge on which they would lay the foundation for further improvement of their theoretical and practical knowledge in the respective scientific field or the scientific discipline. A well-developed and established science contains several indispensable elements, i.e., components, such as: the introductory theories being studied, the general knowledge and scientific results which are leading in the respective science, the knowledge gained by the scientific workers in their detailed research in the relevant domain, and other issues related to the application of the results obtained in the research.
The recognizability of the police sciences derives from their orientation towards the studying of the police working as an activity, and the police as an organization. Over time, police sciences have defined their subject of study and research. Thus, nowadays, they are a set of sciences established in the scientific field of the security sciences, but with peculiar features, aims, and methods of study.
The development of the police organization, particularly in modern society, cannot be substantive and relevant if it is not related to police science. Police acting and the improvement of the skills of the police officers is dependent and closely related to the practical application of the scientific and practical results based on the research of the police sciences. Thus, the relation between science and practice should give measurable and substantive results which will meet the needs of a greater security of the citizens and the society.
