Abstract – At present, the world economy is experiencing major
technical and economic changes. In the field of rail transport, the
challenge is the implementation of information and
communication technologies, i.e. the incorporation of Industry 4.0
elements into the operation of rail transport. An important part of
this is their mutual global integration. The aim of the article is to
economically assess the introduction of the Industry 4.0 element of
the wagon control unit into the transport process in rail transport.
The premise of the research task is based on the experience of
implementing intelligent sensors in rail freight transport in some
countries of the European Union. Based on the analysis of the use
of information and communication technologies in rail transport,
an economic evaluation of the design of the wagon control unit will
be carried out in the article.
