Abstract
Comparative investigations were carried out during 1999 in the region of Prilep, in the
Experimental field of Tobacco Institute.
The aim of investigations was to study the productional and qulity characteristics of 6 newly
created tobacco lnes of thetype Prilep, compared to the standard P12-2/1.
The results obtained during investigations revealed the following:
- the newly created lines have a higher number of leaves per plant and greater plant height,
- the investigated lines achieved 8.06-30.43% higher dry tobacco yeild per plant and per
hectare and higher percentage of high grades(I and II ), exept for the line P19-2/1,
- All investigated lines achieved higher economic effect, and in relative values it was 17.14%
i.e. 58.29% higher compared to the standard,
- According to its technological and chemical characteristics, the obtained raw was typical
for tobacco type Prile
