Abstract
The endemic leech was found for the first time in 1936, and was named Cystobranchus fasciatus by the scientist Pawlowski. Slovenian biologist B. Sket (1968) fully systematically described and renamed this leech later as Cystobranchus pawlowskii, and placed in endemic leeches belonging to the family Piscicolidae. This endemic leech has been found only in Lake Ohrid so far. It lives on different fish groups from Lake Ohrid (carp, trout, etc.) as parasitic form. In our research study we found in trout
fish farm in Tushemisht, R. Albania. It is a first finding of Cystobranchus pawlowskii parasitizing Oncorhynchus mykiss, and causing a massive mortality in fish farm.
