Highways are part of the road network which is of great significance and has the role of a lifeblood of a developed state. The construction of new and reconstruction of the highways is one of the most influential or direct drivers of the development of the states. It shows the experience and the current practice of the developed countries in the region and beyond. Because the road network or the highways are of a great importance for the development of the Republic of Macedonia, the current situation of the road network and the road conditions should be analyzed, as well as quality analysis is needed for the needs for construction of new and reconstruction of existing highways in RM, based on experiences from the developed European countries.
The subject of this paper is the analysis of the current condition of the highways, and the proposal for construction of new highways and reconstruction of the existing highways, as well as their relevance, as an instigator on the development of the Republic of Macedonia.
