Abstract

The process of teaching and learning is equally important as the learning outcomes. One wise though says: The true value of a teacher is determined not by what he knows, nor by his ability to impart what he knows, but by his ability to stimulate in others a desire to know.
Problem solving teaching and learning is based on the view that problem-setting and its solution is a creative way of actively acquiring knowledge as the highest form of learning. At the same time, the essence of problem learning is to impel students to curiosity, to stimulate them to ask questions and to answer questions, to stimulate pupils to use their thinking skills at a higher level, to learn through their own experience rather than through pure reproduction. Children should be ready to ask questions and solve problems at the earliest age.
The paper present results of investigated kindergarten teachers opinions and teacher’s opinions in primary education how they understand the concept of problem solving teaching and learning, and opinions and views about the influence of problem solving teaching and learning on development of children critical and creative thinking. Kindergarten teachers and teachers in primary education are teachers who were part of trainings and workshops for problem solving teaching and learning. After finished workshops and trainings for problem solving teaching and learning, kindergarten teachers and teachers in primary education implement problem solving teaching and learning in their educational process. The aim of this study is to find out what teachers think about problem solving teaching and learning, how they implement problem solving teaching and learning in their work, does problem solving teaching and learning have impact and influence on children creative thinking and critical thinking. In the research are included 15 kindergarten teachers and 30 teachers from I to IX grade in primary schools from Bitola and Prilep municipality in R.Macedonia.
