Abstract
The alternative tourism emerged in the early 1980s as a part of the adaptancy platform (period of tourism development after Second World War) and may therefore be regarded as an early form of engagement with the idea of sustainability in the tourism. He is classificated in natural tourism, cultural tourism, events and other forms of tourism. Special category of events is carnivals. In this paper, main accent is point on the carnival of Vevchani - historical steps of his development, organizational structure and performance, as well as suggestions of its improvement.
