Abstract
The knowledge economy includes those economies in which creation, transfer and use of knowledge are the leading drivers of economic growth and wealth creation. Thus, science and knowledge, innovation and technology are fundamental to the knowledge economy creation. Technological innovations are not possible without significant investment in research and development which generate basic scientific and technological knowledge, which constitute the basis of innovation. This paper treats the complex problematic of knowledge and innovations and their impact to the knowledge economy creation, with special review on their research on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
