Abstract
Human development is a process of enlarging people’s choices which can be infinite and changed over time. But at all levels of economic development, the three essential ones are for people to lead a long and healthy life, to acquire knowledge and to have access to resources needed for a descent standard of living. They are all integrated in the Human Development Index. Human development Index (HDI) is a measure of human development. Education has a very important role for the human development because it is one of the components in assessing the Human Development Index. This paper will put accent on the importance of education for the human development in the Republic of Macedonia by monitoring changes occurring in the Education Index of residents in a long time and its impact on the changes that occur in the Human Development Index in the Republic of Macedonia.
