The Black root rot caused by Chalara elegans (Nog. and Kendr) (sin., Thielaviopsis basicola (Berk. i Brome) Fer) is a very destructive disease to tobacco seedlings.
The control of disease is necessary because healhy and quality tobacco seedlings is a base to achieve good yield and quality of tobacco.
It is necessary to know biology of pathogen, ecological factors influence, and epidemiology of disease.
Application of preventive measures in disease control is necessary to avoid consequences to economic effect of tobacco seedlings production.
Application of measures of chemical control is necessary, especially if there are faborable conditions for pathogen growth. Successful control against the causing agent of the disease is made by desinfection of soil for tobacco seedlings production.
