Nowadays, SMEs are the key driver of economic growth. Today they have more influence in job creation, added
value, export and encouraging the innovation. But their foundation and growth in closely related to entrepreneurship. Thus,
in this paper the main aim is to performe an analysis of entrepreneuship activities (TEA index, age of entrepreneur, genderbased
entrepreneurship, sectoral structure of entrepreneurship etc), SMEs and the influence of business envirounment,
with particular reference to Republic of Macedonia. To achive the aim we will analyze the data from the Global
Entrepreneurship Monitor Reports for Macedonia. Finally on the basis of the analysis and theoretical knowledge in the
conclusion it will be synthesized a number of measures and proposals to encourage the development of small and medium
businesses in Macedonia.
