Abstract
In the last several decades, many significant changes have happened in the financial sector, mainly as a result of the influence of deregulation, globalization, competition, consolidation, financial innovations and development of information technology. That has caused change in traditional profile of banking institutions that increasingly resemble universal financial institutions. Namely, the activities of modern banks are focused not only on traditional banking activities, such as deposits gathering and credits issuing, but on many other non-banking services as well, such as: trading with securities, financial advising, financial leasing, managing financial and non-financial property etc. Enriching of banking activities and increasing of banking products number, have caused increasing of the risks to which the contemporary banking working is exposed. Therefore, collecting and processing information useful for risks management and use of information-communication technology in that process, present a challenge for each banking institution.
In that context, the aim of research in this study will be contemporary trends in banking sector development, which determine contemporary banks performances and necessity of capital restructurings, on offer for wide range of products and services and benefits from introducing new technologies in banking working.
