Abstract

The three-year investigations on the pathogenic effect of PtA in various tobacco producing countries, led to the following conclusions:
- Due to the importance of PtA as economically important causing agent of blue mold disease on tobacco, a collaborative study for monitoring the pathogenic effect of the fungus has been made in several countries throughout the world.
- Different tobacco varieties in different countries expressed various reaction to PtA.
- The varieties Bergerac C, Samsun and Ps 108 were estimated as highly susceptible.
- Resistance to PtA was noticed in varieties Bel 61-10, Ch. Mutant and Nc 11-51.
- In average, the pathogenic effect of PtA during 2005 was noticeably reduced compared to previous two years.
