Abstract

Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) is the first virus which attacks tobacco crop to be identified.
It has long-terme power of infectivitiy and high resistance to high and low temperatures. TMV has a great number of host-plants, belonging to both cultivated and wild species. Almost all cultivated species of tobacco are susceptible to TMV.
Preventive measures and creation of resistant varieties give the best results in the control of TMV.
