Abstract

The implementation of the computers in the educational process dates back to 1950,
long before the emergence of the first personal computer. Through different types of
approaches to using the computer in education, different terms and acronyms and even more
different ways, technology found its way into the educational process. Starting from the most
basic studying with the help of the computer-based instruction (CBI), through the computerassisted learning (CAL), what we encounter today most often is the term Learning Management
System.
The systems for electronic learning are becoming more and more popular in the
educational institutions. The rapid development of the electronic learning has changed the
traditional approach towards learning and has created new challenges with educators (lecturers,
teachers, professors) on one hand and the pupils and students on the other. Educators face
difficulties when choosing adequate study material because of the increasing number present
and available on the Internet. Students, on the other hand, face a problem when they have to
decide which materials they are to use and are adequate for them and their needs, so that is
why, it would be much more useful when an electronic system could help activities and in an
intelligent way to choose and suggest materials and documents for learning through which the
students would improve their knowledge. That is the exact theme of this thesis. Through
analysis of the behavior of the students, in this case the choosing of the study materials, to be
foreseen what is most suitable for them.
To achieve this purpose, e personalized mode of system of recommendations is created
and presented in this paper. That system would help students, who study subject in various
fields, to be introduced to new topics and to upgrade what they already know. The model is
based on a system for managing the learning process combined with using a system for
recommendations, where a key factor for the recommendation is time.
