Abstract
Defining appearances from always has been and is necessary for making a general picture of the phenomenon that we encounter. Having a definition, without obstacles we could understand is the internal, essential part of the phenomenon.
Trafficking in human beings is only a small part of appearances for which the international community still hasn’t got a mutually acceptable definition. We must admit that forming a definition is a long process, process in which the appearance must be explained from different theoretical approaches and brought into the social value system.
The paper tries to give a chronological explanation of the process through which was created today’s trafficking in human beings’ definition contained in the Palermo Protocol. Through it we should receive a clearer picture of the process length and phenomenon’s complexity.
Key words: definition, international documents, process, term, trafficking in human beings
