POSSIBIILITIES FOR USING BIOLOGICAL POTENTIALS IN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.PDF Download (4MB) | Preview |
Abstract
Long-term conventional agricultural production has caused
significant negative impacts on the environment and human heaith. The negative effect of pesticides on human health and environmental pollution has reached an alarming level. Because of that, people's awareness also developed, which in tum led to the need for a new agroecological concept in agricultural production. Hence, Sustainable
Agricultural Production is a type of production based on the
principles of ecology and restoring natural mechanisms for the stability of the community.
Altemative measures in the protection of plants are increasingly being introduced, and biological preparations find their deserved place among them. There are numerous preparations, with different bases -microbiological (living microorganisms or parts) and biochemical (products of microbial metabolism or aatibiosis products, as well as
plant products - plant extracts, essential oi1s, etc.).
One of the most promising and environmentally acceptable
methods of plant protection is biological control. Biocontrol agents act through a complex complex of mechanisms and heip plants to defend themselves against the attack of pathogens, but at the same time they enrich the rhizosphere. To strengthen the prospects for the use of biopreparations and all environmental measures, it is necessary to enable the monitoring of the efficiency of their application (in the growing season, assessment in
direct production) or, approaching the direct producer. 'Ir:aining Ieducating people about the benefits of biopesticides for sustainable
agriculture is of great importance. A1so, presenting the effects and publishing those data is very important.
Institutional measures are also needed, i.e. increasing policies to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and increasing the use of the socalled "green altemative".
Keyvords: ecological principle, biological control,
biopreparations, sustainable production, the environment.
