We live in a time of science and technology, in a time of globalization, in a time of constant changes that reflect in all spheres of public and private life, and which inevitably have encompassed the educational system as a crucial segment of a society. There is no doubt that changes move society forward. But, at the same time, we can not dispute the fact that there is a great devaluation of the system of human values. In a society where economic power and profit are given the priority, the significance of the human values is lost in the education as well. We are witnesses of a certain decadence and crisis of the fundamental human values. In this sense, the education has to greatly emphasize the aspect of human values and to elevate the awareness of their development. Another thing that must not be neglected in the educational process is the role of the teacher. A skilful and creative teacher would navigate the activities designed with the curriculum by highlighting the significance of the human values when developing the creative potentials of the students. Bearing in mind the role of education in the development of human values our paper analyses the curriculum of Macedonian language (literature area) and Geography through the prism of human values, or in other words, it examines how much this educational content contribute to the development of human values. Simultaneously, it analyses the activities through which this content is implemented and indicates their essential connection with the development of human values.
