Abstract

Face recognition technology has wide usage in
applications such as surveillance, biometrics, and security.
In this paper, we introduce a complete real-time face
recognition system that is implemented on an FPGA and
consists of face detection and recognition modules. The
face recognition system is divided in two modules: training
module and evaluating module. Then, the Local Binary
Patterns Histogram (LBPH) extracts facial features from
the detected faces in the live stream. Recognition is then
performed by applying a Euclidean distance classifier to
recognize and match the faces.
