Abstract

Background: The Chiari network consists of movable, mesh-like structuresoccasionally observed in the right atrium proximate to the openings of the inferior venacava and coronary sinus.
Case Presentation: This case discusses a 75-year-old male initially suspected to haveacute pulmonary thromboembolism, but we misdiagnosed the Chiari network as athrombus in the right atrium. Subsequent echocardiography revealed a Chiari networkin the right atrium. Accurate identification using transthoracic echocardiography,Doppler echocardiography, is crucial.
Conclusion: Accurate identification of the Chiari network is essential for optimalpatient care. Thorough evaluation is crucial in cases suggestive of acute pulmonarythromboembolism or right atrium thrombus.
