Abstract
A key component for every successful school is good educational leadership. Good educational leadership
is important in every area of the educational spectrum, including the school education of gifted children. Although
educational leadership was not given the proper consideration in the past as an important aspect of the education and
care for gifted students, new research suggests that the school principal plays an integral part in the educational
process. The impetus that seems to have stimulated attention in this area has been the recognition by parents and
teachers that the gifted cannot succeed on their own but need encouragement and support from their home and school
environment in order to discover and develop their abilities. Gifted students need a school leader to help them receive
the best education in the context of their attributes and talents. School leaders are in a position to create a school
environment that will be a beneficial and appropriate experience for students who have been identified as gifted.
Respecting this point, the paper focuses on theoretical analysis and objective perception of areas in education and care
for the gifted, where the school principal has a significant role and influence. The goal is to present the problems, but
also to give recommendations for the school leadership in the development and implementation of appropriate services
for the gifted so that above all the failure of the gifted will be prevented, but also help them achieve high levels of
success.
Key words: gifted, school education, school leadership.
