Abstract

Research results in this paper showed that the duroc breed, compared to yorkshire and
landrace, has a smaller ejaculate volume, but the highest progressive motility and concentration
of spermatozoa, as well as the highest percentage of protein in the sperm plasmawere
determined, and on the other hand, the lowest total number of spermatozoa. These resultsvery
concretely shows the significant differences in values of basic fertilization potential parameters
of the ejaculate, between boar breeds and that the genetic potential of the breed affects the
ejaculate parameters, thus the fertility of the ejaculate it self.
Key words: ejaculate, spermatozoa, boars
