Abstract

Children today grow up using multifunctional technological devices from an early age.
Parents play a vital role in mediating children’s media use, especially at a young age. This is
especially important in early childhood which is a crucial time for brain development. The
general aim of this study is to reveal the attitudes, behaviors, controls and limitations of
parents of children in early and middle childhood towards their children's use of digital media.
The research was carried out using a questionnaire for parents. The sample was chosen
randomly and consists of 785 parents of children in early and middle childhood. Families
have an important role by considering how children learn from digital media, and how the use
of digital media impacts children’s development at different ages and developmental stages,
while making decisions regarding early childhood education in informal environments.
