Tobacco production in Republic of North Macedonia is completely oriented to the oriental aromatic types. The question about replacing the tobacco with another crop that would provide the same or even higher level of income is often subject to analysis and discussion in the scientific circles in the field of agriculture and among the people who are practically involved in this area. The answer is that the possibility of such a replacement is limited because of the lack of alternative employment and due to the unsuitable natural conditions for having another type of agricultural production. The use of the x2 - test confirms the basic hypothesis of the research, which is that the prospective production of tobacco will depend on the determination and will of tobacco producers.
