Abstract

Traffic congestion and resulting pollution affect the
quality of life in cities, notably in countries with dominant old diesel engines. One solution is Adaptive Traffic Signal Control using vehicle type and emission measurements. Therefore, a fuzzy controller using a magnetic sensor for classifying vehicles and a sensor for measuring emissions is proposed.
