Abstract

The paper represents theoretical research of the phenomenon of polycentrism,
particularly its operationalization, manifestation on social scene and its significance
in contemporary politics. It is divided into three parts, where the first one provides
de-composition of the phenomenon, identifying its essence with centrism, or center
of power, attaching to them geopolitical, economic and conditional nature. Various
manifestations of geopolitical polycentrism are represented in international context,
federal level and national level; economic, representing successful companies on
global level; conditional, representing worldwide NGOs, Universities and Media
companies; and overall social polycentrism, presenting all of the actors on
international (global) scene, in the second part of the paper. In the last part, the
significance of the phenomenon of polycentrism is examined, through the
justifications of the phenomenon, and the mechanisms which are stimulating it.
Keywords: polycentrism, center, power, manifestations, significance.
