Abstract

Modern educational goals emphasize the development of general competencies needed for any human activity (Key competencies for Lifelong Learning, 2010). Based on the actuality of emphasizing competencies among teaching staff for working with talented students, this research also sets a goal and objectives to prove the importance of teachers' competencies in identifying and developing students' musical talent, as well as that the professional development of teachers influence the achievement of students with musical talent.
The focus of the research is a review of the literature on the international situation, as well as the strategies applied to the development of students' musical talent, and on the other hand the results obtained after processing the data from the two questionnaires that were intended for teachers and students for their possession of Competencies for identifying and working with musical talent in students and their Attitude about the subject and curriculum in music education.
According to the conclusions of the results by presenting frequencies and factorial analysis - linear regression in expression, it is ascertained that there is a difference in the possession and development of competencies among teachers for identification and work with talented students in music education, starting from the fact that a significant number of teachers are with inadequate education, a large number of them have not attended trainings for professional development and the fact that a large number of them express that they need such trainings, but also the high, self-confidence, that they can work even without those trainings, then, the significant influence of the group of socio-demographic factors on the possession of Competences for the subject of music in general, so from all this it is concluded that there are differences in the possession and creation of adequate competences and skills among teachers for identification and work with talented students in a musical educational subject.
