Abstract

Every language acquisition, including the mother tongue, refers to a process. The student successively passes through certain phases in order to adjust himself to the language system, i.e. to elaborate the structure elements and rules regarding the formation of the sentences and to communicate as well, gained in the teaching process or from everyday life. In this sence, we may talk about posting hypotheses for the language elements and for the language production’s rules which are elaborated in the part called communication. The processes of language acquisition are based on a previously specialized scheme or learning strategy. In the process of second language acquisition it is natural if the student orients himself towards the knowledge and the production model from the mother tonque. Therefore, it is an advantage not to eliminate the mother tonque from the teaching. The influence of the mother tonque can setback the second language acquisition, as well as to promote it. It is necessary to stress out that every transfer of rules from one language to another is called transfer. In that sense, the transfer of structures or rules from L1 in the production of the second L2 can be seen as natural continuance of the second language learning strategies. If the transfer of the rules improves the learning process, it is about positive transfer, but if the transfer setsbacks the learnig process, it is about negative transfer. The negative transfer is in the middle of the contrastive research and some inconsistencies are being elaborated. Regarding the positive transfer, certain structures from the mother tonque can be equivalent to the second, i.e. foreign language. Thus, there are similarities in L1 and L2, i.e. the rules from the mother tonque are transferred in the production of correct pronunciation and construction in the target language.
This doctorial dissertation examines the influence that the syntactic structure of the sentence from the Macedonian langiage has on the written and oral expression of the students in teaching German language. In the dissertation, certain propositions and suggestions for reducing the influence of the negative transfer and using the benefits from the positive transfer will be given. Further, the comparative insides (comparison has been made only for the part that refers to the rules to form a sentences), the syntactic structure in the Macedonian and the German language will be stressed out.
