Abstract
The transport of radioactive material, like any other goods, is carried out every day through road, rail, air and water traffic.It is packaged in such a way as to ensure that radiation levels on the packaging surface do not exceed prescribed values to minimize the risk of contamination.It ensures carriers, the public and the environment will not be exposed to radiation levels that exceed accepted safety limits.
Efficiency in the implementation of safe transport of radioactive materials depends on strengthening the capacities, communication and coordination of all competent institutions at the international and national level, through regulations, standards and operational procedures ready to ensure reliable protection of human health, the environment and cultural heritage.
The main goal of this research is to achieve and maintain a high level of safety and security during the transport of radioactive material in the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia, through the strengthening of national measures and in accordance with internationally recognized principles and standards, especially for the protection of occupationally exposed persons, the population and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation now and in the future.
