Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the role of the event industry in the development of tourism in the contemporary world, but above all given the current state of prospects for the development of this sector in Kosovo. Namely, tourism is the key to the development of the world economy. Tourism - it's work, infrastructure and development. These are definitions by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and they best reflect the significance and the change that this economic activity (fourth in economic importance) brings to the world economy. Tourism is of great importance for the global economy, and especially for the economies of developing countries. This is the reason why this activity is highly influenced and many funds are invested in tourism development. An important feature of tourism is its potential to be a driver for economic recovery and employment growth. Tourism is generally given great importance, but the expectations of the tourist are very high, as is their desire for specific experiences. In fact, one can see the special role of events in modern tourism. The events are an integral part of tourism, but also an integral part of human civilization. So events are a global phenomenon that is gaining in importance throughout the event industry.
The analysis carried out in our research confirmed the basic hypothesis that the strong development of the event industry is an important factor in the development of modern tourism, which affects tourism and the promotion of destinations. Only through a long-term orientation aimed at strengthening the event industry in Kosovo will it bring a quality addition to the unique experiences and make the event a competitive advantage. Study have shown that in the organization of events, there are significant opportunities for a different perception of the destination that are characterized by dominant tourist movements during the summer holidays. Significant development of the event industry will allow the country to be profiled as a year-round tourist destination.
